The Neosho Freeman Family YMCA now offers fitness room access 24 hour a day. Construction began and has been completed adding a restroom inside the fitness center and adding another entrance near the locker rooms to access the fitness room.

“Our mission is to serve through youth development, social responsibility and healthy living, and this one goes in the healthy living category,” said Ben Coffey, CEO of Tri-State Family YMCA in an interview with the Joplin Globe. “Our design is to serve more people every year, and in order to do so we have to stay relevant with what the market is telling us and what the community is telling us.”

Changing to 24 hours gives more of the community the opportunity to find time to exercise around their schedule. This also makes it more conymcaupdatedvenient for Crowder students to complete homework for their classes and still have time to exercise. Another benefit to changing the hours is that it will give more availability for Crowder athletes to exercise around games, practices and/or study hall hours.

“I am very excited about the YMCA being open 24 hours,” said sophomore softball player Kristen Wade, “between all my classes and practices there is never time to go to the gym before it closes, so this will help me to get some extra work in.”

The YMCA allows free access to Crowder students who live on campus and bring their Crowder OneCard. The YMCA is located at 4701 Chouteau Ave in Neosho next to the Crowder College softball field. For more information email info@YMCASWMO.org or call 417-455-9999.
