Bad Boys for Life, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah takes place in present-day Miami, Florida. Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio) is guided by his mother Isabel Aretas (Kate Del Castillo) on a massacre terrorizing everyone who helped put his mother in prison. Armando kills the leader of a well-known gang then hires Zway-Lo (Nicky Jam) to be his right-hand man.
The newest release of the Bad Boys series Bad Boys for Life was one of the most entertaining ones yet. In this action-packed thriller Mike Lowry (Will Smith) and his partner Marcus Burnette (Martin Lawrence) team up with special forces AMMO lead by Rita (Paola Núñez) after he faces death in an attempt to locate the shooter who tried putting Mike in his grave. On top of all this, they face the difficulties of everyday life and the tension that erupts between Marcus and Mike.
Out of all the movies in the series, this one is my favorite. I was never bored during the movie. There was always something entertaining happening, with no breaks in the action. It always left you guessing, even when you think you know what’s going to happen next they go in the opposite direction. Even in the action thriller, they managed to sneak in many bits of comedy, as always, at just the right moments.
The boys are up to the same things, Marcus always trying to do things the nice way without violence, while Mike does whatever he wants to because he is the Mike Lowry. If you were wondering, they still haven’t learned the words to the song Bad Boys, by Inner Circle. The main difference in this film compared to the last two movies and the recent one is instead of chasing criminals, they’re chasing someone who is actively hunting them.
With Will Smith at 51 years old and Martin Lawrence at 55, they did incredibly well, looking as young as ever. Hopefully, age isn’t becoming a factor for these two actors, as at the end of the movie there were hints towards the making of another movie in the series. Although it doesn’t seem likely this is the end, if it is, just remember, “We ride together, We die together, Bad Boys for Life.”
