Sony released its fifth instalment of the PlayStation on Nov. 12. This one is faster, smoother, and all around better than its predecessor, the PS4. There are two versions of the PS5. There is a digital version for $399 and a disc version for $499. The only difference between to the two versions is the digital version does not have a Blu-ray disc loader on the console.
The only downside to the PS5 right now is the fact that it is extremely hard to find, because they were all sold out eight weeks ago when preorders for them opened.
Now let us look at the PS5 compared to the PS4 Pro. As you would expect, the PS5 is just flat our better than the PS4 Pro. The one thing that is a huge upgrade is the framerate. The PS4 Pro runs at 30 FPS, and sometimes 60 FPS depending on the game. Now for the PS5, it will run at 4k or 60 FPS. Some games will even have to chance to get 120 FPS at 4k. The PS5 is also capable of the graphically intensive technique known as ray tracing. Found in some of the prettiest PC games around, like Control, Metro Exodus, and Battlefield V, ray tracing is an innovative means of rendering light and shadows realistically.
One thing that people are excited for about the PS5 is the new DualSense controller. IGN has reviewed it as the best controller Sony has made to date. The successor to the DualShock 4 has a stark new look and a redesigned shape that is easier on the hands, which makes it a fundamentally better, more interesting controller. It also has some next-gen swagger: Beautifully implemented next-gen haptics and adaptive trigger resistance create opportunities for more immersive experiences through tactile feedback. Both a careful evolution and a big, innovative leap, the DualSense sets a strong new standard for console controllers.
The PS5 will be what all PlayStation fans will be playing on for the next 7-8 years. And as for upgrades go, I think it is safe to say that the PS5 is head over heels better than the PS4 in all aspects, as it should be. It might be a bit pricey right now, but once the price drops a bit I would highly recommend on getting your hands on one as soon as possible.
Even thought I was unable to get a PlayStation 5, I have only heard good things about the console. With the upgrade to graphics, gameplay, and being all around better than the PlayStation 4. I would highly recommend getting this as a gift for the holidays coming up.
