Crowder Theater kicks off new season
Crowder Theater’s 2018-2019 season is kicking off the year with two performances. A Father’s Trial will be performed Sept. 29-30, and A Few Good Men will be performed Oct. 18-20. Other performances for this season will include a stage reading of Night of the Living Dead and a radio show of A Christmas Carol. Performances will be held in the Elsie Plaster building.

Annual Roughrider rodeo raises cash
The 6th Annual Crowder College Roughrider Scholarship Rodeo occurred Aug. 17-18 at the Roughrider Arena in Neosho. All money raised from the event go towards scholarships and programs for Crowder’s agricultural department. Participants earned nearly $15,000 in prize money this year. Career Coach helps students find careers
Career Coach is a website that helps students decide a career and build a resume. Students can find Career Coach on the Crowder College website under the current students tab. Career Coach asks students to take a 6 or 60 question test to help them find a career or program to see if that career is something they are interested in pursuing.
Students kick off with Welcome Week
Welcome Week included information for both freshman and returning students, moving into the dorms, and free food and activities. An ice-cream social, skating, and a rodeo began Crowder students’ fall semester.
Crowder board announces interim president
Dr. Thomas Burke has been named interim president of Crowder College by the Board of Trustees following the resignation of former president, Dr. Jennifer Methvin. Dr. Burke will serve as interim president until the Board of Trustees chooses a permanent president to take over the role.
Roughriders reduce, reuse, and recycle
To start off the fall 2018 semester, Crowder College strives to increase awareness of its students and staff about expanded recycling efforts. Recycling bins can be found multiple locations around campus. Each is labelled to its corresponding waste: plastic, paper, aluminum, and landfill.

The weather at the start of September looks to be rainy and warm, with plenty of chances for showers and highs in the mid to upper 80s.

Crowder athletics starts fall strong
The Crowder soccer team kicked off their season on Aug 11 at home against John Brown University, and their next game will be at 5 p.m. on Sept 4 in Neosho against Eastern Oklahoma State College. The Lady Rider softball team begins their fall season at 4 p.m. on Sept 13 at Missouri Southern State University. Crowder women’s basketball will begin their season scrimmages in October. Baseball will be training and having intrasquad scrimmages this fall to prepare for their spring season.
24 student athletes earn academic honors
The National Junior College Association recognized 24 students at Crowder College for their academic achievement. This is a record number of individuals for Crowder Athletics in a single year. To earn this award, a student athlete must have completed 24 or more credit hours with a 3.60 gpa or higher.
