T13rwhe third season of 13 Reasons Why definitely was not as entertaining as the first. In the third season, all of Crestmont is stunned when Bryce Walker (Justin Prentice) goes missing and turns up dead days later. The entirety of the season is based upon the students at Liberty High attempting to solve the puzzle of who would have wanted Bryce dead.

13 Reasons Why, directed by Brian Yorkey, takes place in a fantasy town named Crestmont in current day. There are really four main characters; Hanah Baker (Katherine Langford), Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette), Jessica (Alisha Boe), and Bryce Walker (Justin Prentice) and new to the cast is Grace Saif who plays Ani. There are also multiple other characters but these four are the most important throughout the story.

The show is based on the book 13 Reasons Why, which was published Oct.r 12, 2007. The show is a Netflix exclusive and was originally released on March 31, 2017; however, season three was just released on Aug. 23, 2019.

The storyline throughout the show wasn’t terrible. There were plenty of cliffhangers leaving me on the edge of my seat waiting for what would happen next. The bad part was that it was very hard to follow what was actually going on.

There were so many different things happening at one time I could hardly keep track of where the show was attempting to go. It was hard to tell what time frame was currently happening. The plot was constantly switching between past and present with hardly any sort of transition that was almost impossible to tell which time frame the plot was in.

Although there were gut wrenching cliffhangers that left me anxiously waiting for what was next I feel as if the show is starting to get stale. They took 6 episodes worth of story and stretched it into 13 to match the previous seasons.

After season one was a banger, everyone knew there would be a second season. And after season two sucked I’m not to sure many people expected or wanted a season three. Yet they made a season three completely going off track of the storyline of the book ad making it up as they go.

It’s almost as if they’re just attempting to squeeze as much money out of the show as they can. They took an amazing story, which they portrayed beautifully, and turned it into a drama show with almost no purpose.
