Marvel’s “Eternals” expands the Cinematic Universe and establishes a significant story after the film series “The Avengers.” Marvel studios released “Eternals” on November 5, presenting the third movie of “Phase 4.” Unfortunately, it received Marvel’s lowest rating from Rotten Tomatoes.

A new team of ten superpowered ancient aliens reunite after their enemy returns from the shadows, the Deviants. Eternals and Deviants were created by a colossal alien one million years ago. The Celestial being is “Arishem the Judge.”

Celestial beings can create entire galaxies from scratch. Arishem is the most powerful Celestial, he controls the Eternals and decides whether a civilization should be destroyed for the greater good. “The Eternals team all possess cosmic power and that opens so many possibilities for other beings from the comics to be introduced,” said Lance Stephens, business major.

After the events in “Avengers: Endgame”, the team reassembles in L.A. after three centuries of being apart. The leader of the team, Ajax, explains why they didn’t interfere with Thanos, also a celestial/deviant and why Deviants have returned.

The Eternals are significant in the Marvel Universe because it introduces a team of cosmic immortal superheroes. Each Eternal has their own unique set of superpowered skills. After fighting Deviants for a millennium, they’re all highly proficient in combat. The movie ‘’explores the very creation of the Marvel Universe itself,” said Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios.
