Television Show Review

Mayans MC is a great show for those who have watched the original Sons of Anarchy (SOA) series. Mayans MC starts off where SOA ended. The story follows the journey of Ezekiel Reyes and his journey as a prospect with the Mayans motorcycle club.
Mayans MC released on Sept. 4th on FX. The show stars JD Pardo Reyes, who plays Ezekiel ‘EZ’ a former golden boy turned ex-con, turned prospect in the Mayans MC who is trying to prove that he has what it takes. His older brother and fellow biker Angel Reyes, played by Clayton Cardenas, is there to help him with his journey as a prospect.
Other characters include Johnny ‘Coco’ Cruz, played by Richard Cabral and Obispo ‘Bishop’ Losa played by Michael Irby. The show also includes returning characters such as Marcus Alvarez who is played by Emilio Rivera.
The show takes place two years after the events that unfolded with SOA, in the fictional town of Santa Madre near the U.S. and Mexico border.
The first episodes have a similar story arc. To the SOA series. EZ has the same inner conflict with the Mayans criminal dealings as well as a hobby of journaling like Jax, played by Charlie Hunnam.
We learn in later episodes that EZ was Stanford bound before he shot a cop, derailing his life.
Mayans MC has been approved for a second season and is expected to air in 2019. It is rated T.V. MA for mild sex and nudity, as well as severe violence, gore, and profanity. There is moderate use of alcohol and drugs.
