Local theatre makes improvements

Neosho’s newly renovated movie theatre, B&B Theatres Neosho’s Cinema 6, now features an open bar and recliners filling each of the auditoriums. If only they had found a way to make their ticket lines move faster.

While there was a virtually empty line at the bar, the ticket and popcorn line was full. I showed up with a friend ten minutes before the showtime of the movie we were watching to purchase our tickets and snacks and did not get through the line and seated in our movie until ten minutes after it began. The theater put in neat little touch screens at the counter (manned by one of their three or four cashiers) where patrons can pick their movie as well as their seats, making the ticket purchasing process rather long.

The good news is that movie goers can now go online early to both purchase their tickets and reserve their recliners. But that makes for unfortunate circumstances for those like me who had to wait in line for several minutes and get to the counter only to find that your party can either, one, not sit together because of previously reserved seats; or two, have to view another movie entirely.

However, the $10 dollar tickets and comfy chairs mostly make up for this disappointment, which could be easily remedied by reserving seats beforehand or showing up early to the movie.

The cinema also offers a rewards program called Backstage Pass that is free to sign up for, with a variety of bonuses handed out for being a member. Discounted movie tickets and popcorn, free soda and popcorn refills and birthday treats are all benefits of the program.

I’ll definitely be returning. This time I’ll be headed in with my ticket reserved, a “Backstage Pass” as a rewards member and plenty of time to get my snacks and ticket printed before hitting the recliners for the show.
