The Crowder Quill is now accepting entries of art, photography, and literature for the 2018 contest through CrowderQuill.com. The contest is free to Crowder students, area high students, and members of the surrounding communities. The deadline to enter is February 5th 2018.

Crowder’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter will hold orientation meeting for new and prospective members on February 2nd at 2pm. Qualifying students should receive invitations within the next week. The induction ceremony will be held Sunday February 11th at 2pm.

The Crowder Student Art Exhibit is open on Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Longwell Museum in the Elsie Plaster Center. The exhibit will be open until Feb. 15.

The production of The Shape of Things will be held in the Elsie Plaster building March 1st-3rd. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 1:30 p.m. for the Saturday matinee. Tickets are $4 with a presented Crowder ID, general admission is $8, seniors are $5 and children are $3.

Film series dedicated to Black History Month

Crowder Campus Life will be hosting a film series dedicated to Black History Month with a showing every Tuesday in February at 6 p.m. in the Fireside Room, located in McDonald Hall. There will be snacks and refreshments provided.

Agriculture department provides relief

Members of Crowder College’s agriculture department provided relief for ranchers affected by Hurricane Harvey in Rockport, TX for six days over winter break. The group had 1,200 hours of labor combined.

Smart Start kicks off spring semester

For the first time, new students were able to attend orientation sessions prior to the beginning of the spring semester. Students and parents were given information about Crowder College and tours of the campus. The Smart Start orientation has previously only been available in the fall semester.

Crowder recently named Steven Harrison head soccer coach. Harrison has coached 15 years at the junior college level.

The Lady Roughriders have upcoming games on January 27th here against Jefferson College and at Moberly Area Community College on the 31st. They open up February on the 3rd and 8th against North Arkansas College and St. Louis Community College.

Weather

Temperatures will remain in the 40s and 50s over the next few days. Skies will be mostly sunny with a chance of precipitation moving in at the end of next week.
