The Crowder College International Club has recently returned and welcomes students of all cultural backgrounds. Sofiia Kregul, the current president, sought to revive the club with the help of Destinie Roque, the Spanish instructor at Crowder. Kregul has been adamant about spreading awareness of the existence of the club
Kregul stated “We’ve had two meetings before. The first meeting was to get to know each other. Last meeting I introduced my country [Russia] and planned field trips.” Upcoming trips include Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Exeter corn maze. “While the club is new, you can decide to present your culture. If not, you can just listen. It’s not like a required homework assignment where you have to present. There’s also food,” stated Kregul
Caleb Hatfield, vice president, is working on an Instagram page to spread awareness and promote the club. He stated the club’s purpose is to give international students a sense of community, education, cultural acceptance, and exposure.
Future plans for the club include taking into account the countries Crowder international students are from and representing them with flags from their country in the Student Center.
As it stands, anyone can join the club. The core group is international students, but any student can join. “We want students to have a sense of community and provide cultural awareness and a globalization mindset,” Roque stated
Meetings for the club are held the first and third Friday of every month in Room F152.
