Getting Hitched in College

In college life it can be complicated from just classes and possibly a job, but to add in planning a wedding while being a student can be tough at the same time. About 7% of college students have or are planning a wedding before they graduate according to Campus Explorer by, Archer Education.  Every student who gets married will have different weddings depending on what they like, their budget, and even just reasons why they are getting married. 

 “The most important aspect is making sure life doesn’t have to stop for me to get married,” said Natalie Ezell, student at Missouri Southern State University, “I want to make sure that I’m not putting my future or career or the future of my husband on hold”. These are true words to make sure to have a clear mind while in college planning something important like a wedding and not to lose sight of what goals you each want as a person. There are also advantages of getting married in college, and that is most times decisions and finances will be must easier to do. 

In relationships where the spouse isn’t also in college or they are just further away, long distance can be really hard especially with planning a wedding which does take great communication skills. “Distance doesn’t scare me, but I certainly want to take time aside to visit and have leave days with him while still in college.” Natalie Ezell, “I’ve got my family and friends so I’m not alone”. 

There are many different types of weddings, like Natalie Ezell I am currently planning my full wedding ceremony and getting married after I graduate in May 2021, I plan to have a justice of the peace wedding first a few weeks before my ceremony. While both of our fiancés are in the U.S. Navy, our planning is what works best for each of us and the end result is being married to the one you love no matter what type of wedding you have while in college.
