Who doesn’t like a good fight to the death survival video game? Actually, Fortnite is one of the only ones of it’s kind. This cartoonist game has been catching America and players by storm literally and figuratively.
This game has two different game modes that players can try out. The first is fighting off zombies, gathering materials, and finding more and more weapons as you go. The real moneymaker in this game is the online gameplay where 100 players are dropped from a bus on a map. It’s kill or be killed and the last player or team standing wins. Building in Fortnite is crucial to being successful. It can get players out of trouble or allow invaders to take over if they don’t have many materials.
This game is available on PS4, Xbox One, Mac, and PC. What makes it different from similar games is it is free to play. Different styles of play prove to be very effective. Whether a bush hopper or an absolute powerhouse building forts, this game is based on a series of decisions that can ultimately lead players to a victory that makes them feel on top of the world. More decisions that can influence how players play are Tactical Shotgun vs Pump Shotgun, Bolt action Sniper vs Semi-Automatic Sniper, or Grenade Launcher vs Rocket Launcher.
It is mainly fast paced no matter if you are playing with friends via party and communicating or by yourself. Constant movement is needed due to a storm on the map and a circle changing and shrinking the longer players live. This causes players to not get complacent. Even waiting for someone in a bedroom to open the door can being heart racing. It is the simple things in this game like hearing footsteps from opposing players or running as fast as you can to beat out the storm. It is no wonder that all of the US has Fortnite fever currently. Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite, is great at making changes and experimenting with game modes just enough that it doesn’t get away from what makes the game so special. In my opinion, I have grown addicted to this game because I have never played anything quite like it. It seems to have a Hunger Games feel to it and gives players an adrenaline rush many games can’t. I would give it a 10/10 if I had the credentials to do so.
