This fall the Crowder College Cultural Club (CCCC) are starting the year off with a cultural night event called “A Taste of the World” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., November 16th in the Student Center. Cecenas said, “This is our first event of the year to represent the different cultures here at crowder. Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend.”

The CCCC according to club sponsor, Luis Cecenas, “is a club to bring awareness to different cultures represented here at Crowder College.” They do this by holding a variety of events on campus to highlight each culture. “Sometimes there will be cultural items that we are able to showcase or sell, and just different things on campus in order to promote cultural awareness,” Cecenas said.

There is no fee to attend the event, but there will be foods that require purchase. “You’ll be able to sample foods from different cultures and we are still working on pricing, but it won’t be super expensive. Everything will be reasonably priced,” said Cecenas.

CCCC member, Galilea Palestino Sanchez encourages everyone to attend the event. “There will be plenty of foods that cater to everyone’s tastes. I’ll be contributing a food from my culture called arroz con leche also known as rice with milk.”

Although the event is for fundraising purposes, it is also an event to help recruit new members for the club and get people interested in the backgrounds of others.

“It is a good opportunity to learn about other cultures and experience diversity here on campus and to just become involved with crowder and the club and be able to have some fun,” said Cecenas.

Other upcoming events include dances, game nights and incentive trips. “There are multiple cultures here at Crowder and being educated in those different cultures through activities makes it more enjoyable and memorable for everyone,” explained Sanchez.
