Crowder College is offering two new courses for the spring semester. One is COLL 202 and the second one is COLL 204.
“I am very excited about the classes,” stated Sherry Wilson, Chair. Development Studies.
If you are a student who struggles with finding a job or has bad employability skills, then COLL 202 is for you. COLL 202 is a career and life development course that teaches students the abilities of employment that include, interview skills and job searching.
“The ‘soft skills’ addressed in the coursework are exactly what employers are requesting prospective hires to demonstrate,” said Wilson
COLL 202 is a three-hour credit course that will help students with tax benefits, pay and budgeting home expenses. This class also gives you hands on experiences through local job fairs, information interviews and job shadowing.
COLL 204 is a three-hour credit course called Practical Communication. This class offers workplace knowledge and skills in the areas of reading, writing and speaking. Credit earned in this course only applies toward the completion of specified certificate and degree programs.
“I believe having the Workplace Skills certificate, which includes the two new courses, on students’ resumes will help them be more marketable as they look for employment,” said Wilson.
