College is a fun experience, but it’s not always the easiest. College not only comes with learning and classwork, but it comes with other things along the way. Some students move away from their hometown and have to learn new experiences on their own. College students have to juggle a variety of things ranging from a job, going to a new school, homework, a healthy amount of sleep, study time, social life, and more.
“The advice I would give other college students or new coming students would be to plan ahead and be organized about everything.” Explains Alexis Delgado, studying at Crowder for her nursing major.
Oliver Schinkten explains in his article, “10 Skills All Students Need to Be Successful,” that students need personal management and communication skills. What he means by personal management is for students to set themselves a schedule so they have a “guideline” to go by. When it comes to communication skills, students need to be able to communicate with others for either help or to make friends.
Jeff Elwood, Advisor of Project Now at Crowder College, gave his words of advice for new college students, “Don’t go home every weekend, meet other students and get involved. Don’t miss out on the whole college experience.”
